Release Date:2023-01-01 word size

Chinese New Year's Day has always referred to the first day of the first lunar month in the lunar calendar. The "yuan" of "New Year's Day" refers to the beginning, which means "first". The beginning of any number on New Year's Day is called "yuan"; "Dan" is a pictographic character, with the "day" above representing the sun and the "one" below representing the horizon. The sun rises slowly from the horizon, symbolizing the beginning of a day. People combine the words "yuan" and "dan" to extend it to the first day of the new year. New Year's Day is also known as the "three yuan", which means the yuan of the year, the yuan of the month, and the yuan of the hour.

After the founding of New China in 1949, January 1st in the Gregorian calendar was designated as New Year's Day, as it was only born during the period of the Republic of China. The customs and habits of celebration are mostly similar to those of the Spring Festival, such as setting off fireworks, killing three lives, worshipping ghosts and gods, and paying respects to ancestors.
